Nunnington Corn Mill

Description and History of Site:-
Splendid four storey narrow rectangular block. Large waterwheel still in situ. Used as a farm store. Stone with pantile roof. Regular pattern of many small square windows. Stone quoins and kneelers. Lower storeys of rusticated stone, upper storeys of better ashlars; probably rebuilt or enlarged (Hatcher, 1973).

On the River Rye the mill was built in 1874 the mill last worked in 1960 and subsequently used for gain storage. In the 1970s the c15 ft in diameter wheel with metal framed with wooden buckets and other machinery was still in position.
