Cleethorpes Air Raid Shelter

Description and History of Site:-
In April 1916 there were a number of bombing raids on Cleethorpes by Zeppelins the most serious of which killed 31 soldiers. Shortly after Joseph Forrester, a borough councillor and chemist had a private air-raid shelter built. This was subsequently converted to a garage.
