Description and History of Site:-
Built 1828 as a steam powered worsted spinning and weaving mill. Burnt down in 1831 and rebuilt as a cotton spinning mill. Later came to be known as Dewhurst's Mill. Expanded substantially in early 1850's - mid 1880's with the introduction of thread manufacture and dying as well as the original spinning and weaving activities.
