Description and History of Site:-
Area around Brick Lane, E1, and Bethnal Green Rd, E2 was a jumble of miscellaneous former workshops used by clothing and furniture trades; 2-, 3- and 4-storey domestic and industrial premises with workshops often hidden in back streets. Of note are ranges of 2-storey cabinet-makers' workshops in Gibraltar Walk and Padbury Court, TQ339826, c.1905.

Whole area undergoing redevelopment, few remaining old buildings refurbished. Almost entirely residential (2011).
