Regulator Mill, Sowerby Bridge

Caption :- The Regulator Mill was set up as a subscription corn mill, initially promoted by Thomas Lodge, whose family were owners of Lower Willow Hall Mill. Completed in 1802, it had passed into private hands by 1811, and was completely re-built in 1831. Soon afterwards it was converted for cotton manufacture, but by the end of the century woollen blankets and worsted yarn were manufactured there. During the 20th century it came into the ownership of the adjoining Wharf Mill. View of the mill beside the Rochdale Canal, March 1977.
