Salterhebble Aqueduct

Caption :- Calder and Hebble Navigation. Built to replace a wooden trough aqueduct originally constructed in 1815/6 to connect the Salterhebble locks via Long Lee Cut down to the present Woodside Lock, where the Elland Upper cut formerly re-entered the River Calder above Long Lee weir. The high maintenance costs of the wooden structure, dictated that this 1986 replacement employed contemporary concrete technology. Photo. August 2016.
