Perseverance Mills

Description and History of Site:-
Red brick mill of the mid C19 acquired by Peter Laycock in 1875. It become a prosperous woollen weaving and finishing mill. By 1888 it housed 79 looms and employed 160 hands. The Company moved out of Perseverance Mills in December 2000 though by that time the mills had been in use for a variety of different purposes.

Planning permission allowed (after appeal) in 2006 to demolish the mills and erect a block of student flats.
