Larkfield Mills (site of)

Description and History of Site:-
Mill show as disused on 1909 OS map. Large reservoir, Larkfield dam, in fields to the north almost certainly supplied the mill. Built in 1825 to manufacture and dye woollen cloth. Later known as Larkfield Works, in multiple occupation presumably on a room and power basis. W B Cartwright manufacturing chemist was based here, also Storey Evans and Co, a family run printing company founded in 1899 moved there in 1911. Was still marked as a printing works in 1936. Extant c1960, now demolished and the site redeveloped to housing.
