13 Square Road

Description and History of Site:-
Block of three, four-storey wool warehouses with elaborate carved ashlar frontage to Square Road. Erected for William Walton, woolstapler in 1865 to the designs of John Hogg, one of three elaborate warehouse buildings designed by him and erected in Square Road. Wm Walton and Son were recorded at the premises in 1887 and 1903, but in 1936 the occupants were Sykes and Seed, shoe factors. The premises were demolished c1980 as part of the Square Road widening.
