Brighouse Canal Wharf, Old Lock House

Description and History of Site:-
Former Lock house set in its own grounds beside Brighouse lower lock. Early C19 two storey house with T shaped plan form. Typical Calder and Hebble Navigation Company design, hammer dressed stone with hipped, stone slate roof. A part octagon, single storey office building breaks forward centrally between bays. Garden wall to left hand front marks the flood level of 14ft which occurred 16 November 1866.
