Description and History of Site:-
The last mill still standing (2019) of a once large complex dating from the 1830's. Probably designed by William Fairbairn for John Wilkinson, with later alterations by John Clark in 1842. Flax Mills in red brick with stone details, slate single and double-gable roof, brick parapet, stone coping. L-shaped plan. In 1847 this was the largest single-build mill in Leeds, employing 1500 female flax reelers. Converted to woollen manufacture in the early 1870's. The mill(s) to the west demolished in 1986.
