Beldi Hill Smelt Mill

Description and History of Site:-
In ruins. A small smelt mill at the southern end of Swinner Gill. Associated with the Beldi Hill mines to the north-west. Apparently still in use at the time of publication of the 1854 OS six-inch map survey, but certainly disused by 1891. Featured a short flue and chimney to the north-west and a twenty-three foot diameter waterwheel providing the draught for three furnaces (Clough, 1962).
