Description and History of Site:-
The Midland Railway line connecting Ilkley with Skipton was opened in 1888 and Bolton Abbey was one of the stations between these two towns though it is a long way from Bolton Abbey itself. It was constructed of timber. The line was closed in 1965 and the timber station buildings slowly decayed and were demolished with a replica one rebuilt in its place in 1998 to serve the heritage line.
