Cowloughton Scar hushing ground

Description and History of Site:-
This is an area within which water was channeled along a series of engineered leats to flush out and loosen limestone cobbles entrained within glacial till deposits plastered along the Pennine edge. Cobbles were converted into lime in adjacent kilns, the site remains of one of which survive at SD 9669 4133 No site-specific details have been located.
