Whalebone Arch

Description and History of Site:-
Memorial to Whitby's 18th and 19th century whaling industry. Two whale jaw bones erected to form an arch some time after 1853. A replica was presented to Whitby by Norway in 1963. The current replacement was donated by Alaska in April 2003.
