Description and History of Site:-
One of a group of mills at the southern end of Thorngate and Bridge Gate used variously for spinning weaving and carpet manufacture.
The mill is one of the last remnants of a once flourishing local textile industry: built as a spinning mill it has also at different times been a weaving mill a factory producing a tiny motor-car and a remaindered-book shop now converted into flats.
HE listing gives early C19 for Messrs JHS Pratt.
