Birkdale Bridge

Description and History of Site:-
The bridge to Birkdale has three 8.23m spans and is of concrete construction using pre-stressed concrete inverted tee beams overlaid with in-situ concrete. It was built in 1966 prior to the construction of Cow Green Dam to replace an existing two span bridge with steel beams which had to be moved because it was on the line of the dam.
